This year, our reporting to parents will consist of 2 or 3 way interviews held in Terms 1 and 3, and written reports sent home at the end of Terms 2 and 4.
The 2 or 3 way interview (an interview between the class teacher and parent, where the child concerned may or may not be involved at the parent's discretion) will focus on goal setting from the Key Compentencies from the new Curriculum. The Key Competencies are Thinking; Using Language, Symbols and Text; Managing Self; Relating to Others; and Participating and Contributing.
Our current written report is based on assessment following the NZ Curriculum, and a personal comment from the classroom teacher.
Do you believe that our current written report meets your needs as parents? If not, how could we improve it? Please leave a comment for us to reflect on as we revise our current reporting system. A tip on posting a comment - the comment box comes up in a new window. Towards the bottom of the window you can choose whether to log in with your Google account, or alternatively, click on the 'Name/URL' button, and just leave your name.

Dear Principal Dale,
This will be my first parent teacher interview as my child is in yr 1. My husband & I found the form very hard to complete as we had no idea of what yr 1 NZ curriculum is.
As a parent I request that we are given a hand out so that we work along with the teacher to teach our kid at home and this way it will be easy to set goals for the kids.
Regards,
Geetha Avulamanda (Jonathan's mum)
Dear Geetha
Thank you for your comment. I hope that your interview with your child's teacher this week was helpful. You can download the NZ curriculum document which we are working from at http://nzcurriculum.tki.org.nz
I hope that you find this helps you understand the curriculum.
Kind regards
Delanee Dale
